The Difference Between Slots and Sportsbook Bonuses
There are many ways that casinos and sportsbooks try to get new players. The most popular way is by offering the new player a bonus. But a bonus can mean something different in a sportsbook versus a casino.
Sportsbook bonuses are often awarded as an extra amount of money added to your bankroll immediately after your deposit. Let’s say you deposit $100. A 50% bonus of $50 may be added to your account to sweeten the deal a little. Usually these bonuses will include something called a “rollover”. This word basically means the total amount of times the bankroll must be wagered before you are eligible to make a withdrawal. Usually the rollover is between 6X-20X depending on the amount of bonus.
Slot games have a different kind of bonus. Usually you will get free spins as part of your bonus offer. The offer may say something like “deposit $100 and get 40 free spins on our new XYZ game”. They will also offer free spins for existing players to try out a new game that they hope catches on.
Sportsbooks are also now starting to use something called a “boost”. This is where they will increase the payout of the size of your bet should it win by so much of a percentage. You may get a 20% or 30% boost for example. This means instead of winning $100 on a bet you may win $120 or $130.
It is an ever-growing market and online sportsbooks and casinos are constantly looking for ways to bring in new players. They have to be creative but also make sure that they can still turn a profit. Early on, they may even be willing to take a loss in order to build their player profile and establish their place in the market.
